Malyovitsa wonders of Bulgaria

Malyovitsa Resort Wins a Restoration Award from “Wonders of Bulgaria”! Renovated Hotel “Alen Mak” Opens on 1 December

Malyovitsa received a restoration award on Bulgaria’s Day of the People’s Awakeners. The distinction was presented at the “15 Years of Wonders of Bulgaria” event for restoration in harmony with nature, the renovation of the country’s first mountain school (linked to the name of Hristo Prodanov), and the creation of Bulgaria’s highest-altitude museum.

The beauty of simple things and a sense of harmony with nature come together in the complex.

Just 80 km from Sofia, among the ancient forests and crystal-clear waters of the Rila Mountains, lies one of Bulgaria’s most beautiful and authentic places—Malyovitsa. Here, on the border between the wild and the human-made, the mountain welcomes its guests with clean air, tranquility, and views that stay in the heart forever.

Today, the Malyovitsa complex is developing as an example of sustainable tourism in harmony with nature. The fully renovated hotels—such as “Alen Mak”, “Alpinist”, and “Malyovitsa”—together with the well-marked trails and eco routes, make it possible for more and more people to discover this magical place without disturbing its wild beauty.

The newest gem in the complex, opening its doors on 1 December, is the renovated Hotel “Alen Mak”. It is a place for rest, inspiration, and adventure in the heart of Rila. Every detail has been designed to create a balance between comfort and respect for nature.

Relaxation After Mountain Adventures

Two modern relaxation centers—at “Malyovitsa” and “Alpinist”—complete an unforgettable stay. Treat yourself to jacuzzis with panoramic views of the peak. Guests also have access to a steam room and an aroma steam room—ideal for detox and recovery. There is also a classic sauna and an infrared sauna, as well as salt therapy—natural support for the respiratory and immune systems. Awaken your senses with an experience shower for a refreshing, energizing boost. Since the beginning of October, the complex has also offered an indoor heated pool.

On pleasant autumn days, Malyovitsa offers plenty of coziness and a new seasonal menu that tempts the senses by the restaurant fireplace, with an incredible panoramic view.

A Winter Full of Adventure

In winter, Malyovitsa turns into a snowy fairytale. The ski slopes in the area offer excellent conditions for skiing, snowboarding, and winter tourism—far from the crowds and noise of the large resorts. Snowshoe hikes and cozy evenings by the fireplace complete the feeling of a true mountain getaway.

The Malyovitsa complex follows the philosophy of responsible tourism.

“We believe tourism can be both beautiful and responsible,” says Dimitar Hristov from the complex. “Our goal is not just to welcome guests, but to inspire them to love the mountain as we do. That is why we are introducing an eco code that includes rules for protecting nature and respecting local culture. Together with our guests, we can preserve the mountain’s authentic wilderness and keep it that way for generations to come.”
